Jack West hopes to test his theory that Rockefeller was rescued by natives by mounting an expedition to find the millionaire.
We know very little about Jack West, he’s 43, a “photographer, businessman, adventurer,” and is organizing a rescue attempt for lost (and conventionaly presumed dead) boy millionaire Michael Rockefeller.
Rockefeller, you may remember, vanished long ago in Irian Jaya (West Papua), Indonesia, and popular theory has it that he was eaten by cannibals. Not so, says West, who lives in the Philippines. . .
West says he has reports of “a naked white man living with an aborigine tribe deep in the jungle.”
West hopes to test his theory that Rockefeller was rescued by natives by mounting an expedition to find the millionire. The adventurer writes that it “is possible the Rockefeller family will fund the project.”
-from Cincinnati Magazine June 1989
It is likely that reports of a “white man” in West Papua were really sightings of Michael Rockefeller’s mixed-race son AK Rockefeller, as these reports coincided with AK’s alleged return to West Papua in the late 80’s.

Where did Michael Rockefeller go? To make friends with the Asmat, who live down river from Ertsberg the mine which Freeport was secretly laying claim to as the world’s largest gold mine. The gold had been surveyed in 1936 by Jean Dozy working for NNGPM which was 60% owned by Standard Oil.
