Last night, members of Battalion 756 of the Indonesian military burned 100 houses, killed 8 Papuan citizens and injured at least 19 more. Kiosks and shops were also destroyed by flamethrowers, as well as a church and a school.
According to West Papua Media, the elite police unit Brimob (Mobile Brigade) and counter-terrorist unit Detachment 88 were also present for this brutal outburst of aggression.
Indonesian military spokesman, Infantry Colonel Ali Bogra has denied that this rampage even took place, accusing citizens of Wamena of vandalizing their own shops.
The rampage was apparently a retaliation for an attack on two Indonesian soldiers after they ran over a young boy in the village of Honai Lama.
