While little has changed for West Papuans over the last 48 years – they are still intimidated, gaoled, or killed for wanting freedom and justice –
this is a time of crisis like never before.
The West Papuans themselves are united in demanding a referendum to determine their own future. The international community must not ignore their voice any longer. Indonesia’s rule and its military repression in West Papua is neither legally or morally sustainable.
