The Speech that Got Filep Karma 15 Years in Prison

The Speech that Got Filep Karma 15 Years in Prison Indonesia, Videos
December 2, 2010

Filep Karma at a rally for Independence on the December 1st, 2004, in Abepura-Jayapura. There is no freedom of speech in West Papua. Indonesia calls his speech an act of treason. Filep Karma was sentenced to 15 years in prison after this speech, with others receiving 10 years after this rally for Independence.

Amnesty International condems the sentences. The manipulation, brutality and suffering in West Papua continues. West Papua are the forgotten colonized people.

Support their Independence. Help free Filep Karma! Click here to send a message to the Indonesian authorities calling for the release of Filep Karma and other political prisoners in Indonesia.

How much is needed for the world to react, and support the West Papuans in their struggle? Governments are now doing their best to foster good relations with Indonesia, with the worlds largest Muslim population. And the West Papuan issue is overlooked. Times will change.

Here is a very recent video presented by Amnesty International of Filep Karma from prison. Indonesian authorities had been refusing him medical treatment until the intervention of Amnesty and other international rights groups.
